Great looking pillowcases. Good thing they have zippers. seem to be quite durable; Washed once and still looks new. The back is a light beige material which was a disappointment for me as I would like the color to match the front a bit, but I understand they use the same back no matter what the front looks like. Softness is difficult to assess as it depends on the insert. These are covers only, so an additional purchase of pillow inserts is required, adding at least an additional $10 to the cost of each pillow. I use them at a beach house in Oregon so I hope they last. I know my granddaughters will love the designs. FYI - 18" pads require 20x20 inserts.
