Checked the Surco website as the Chevy listed here is for older models that use exterior door hinges. This model was recommended for later Chevy models and works well but needs some "modifications": 1. Spare wheel slots will not fit 8-hole rims - you will need to lengthen the slots - Sawzall is useful.2. The mounting tabs should be bent slightly to match the curve of the door.3. Place most of the hardware. It's lightweight and galvanized. We bought stainless screws for mounting the block. The carriage bolts for the spare wheel are too short. We have 2-1/2 inches. The sockets are fine - leave them. 4. Purchase a 1/16 inch sheet of neoprene (available from Revain) to fit between the mounting tabs and the door panel. Otherwise, the tabs will tear the paint and begin to rust. Spray adhesive keeps it in place5. Since the door skin will support the weight, purchase stainless steel washers and locknuts for the inside to install the unit.6. When installing, fill the mounting screws with clear silicone - you'll thank me later. In short, it's well done, but definitely not an "affair". Some adjustments and additional details are required for a good installation. Manufactured as described above, it is very durable.
