Incredibly comfortable, warm and quite smelly

After reading the rave reviews of this comforter, I decided to give it a try. fluffed up a little each day. I found that after two weeks he had finally reached his maximum potential. I am very satisfied with the loft ceiling, especially in terms of price. I love sleeping in a chilly room and snuggling under blankets in winter and this blanket is perfect - it's the only blanket I need on my bed. It's very warm and cosy. For those of you worried about the amount of filler or loft, don't worry - this thing is warm as balls and covers every inch of my queen bed, as well as some drape on the sides. Although I use a duvet cover I found the lining to be very soft and of good quality. Bonus points for that. There is one big problem though - this thing stinks. I'm fully aware that it's full of animal products and won't smell like daisies, but this thing is pretty bad. It's like the must of old feathers meeting the fish. I keep pushing it out of my face in the middle of the night - when I lean my nose against it and breathe in, it's pretty repulsive (almost gag reflex). It's so bad that if I leave the window and door closed my whole room will smell like a fish blanket when I get home from work until I blow open the window and door and air it out. I thought it would have an airy phase like most duvets, but it's been over a month now. At the moment I'm not sure what to do with it. It says "contents sterilized" so maybe some kind of treatment on the cover? I would give it less than 3 stars, but apart from the acrid Kai smell emanating from its soft cells, this comforter is really cozy and the company that makes it seems honest.
