This fan replaces the standard fan in my PSU to make my computer quieter. I also have a Scythe Mugen Rev B CPU cooler which is very quiet and I recommend it. I disagree with some of the other reviewers who say this is a quiet fan. Running at a full 12 volts and 1300 rpm, it moves a decent amount of air but has a noticeable hum. To me it sounds a lot louder than 20dB unless you're a fair distance away. I ended up taking it out and comparing it to a standard fan using a regulated power supply. In terms of noise, it wasn't much better with the same airflow. I will say that the sound of the Noctua was a little less mechanical and more pleasant than that of a regular fan. Holding the Noctua at full speed seemed better balanced than the stock fan. I ended up buying some low noise adapters which definitely made the Noctua quieter. I would buy a 1000 fan first if I knew about it. Bottom line, it's a good fan, and if it actually lasts 150,000 hours, it's not overpriced at all. And it's actually quiet at low revs. It seems that if you want a quieter PC, you always need more fans with lower speeds.
