I used to have other sharpening steels and found them ok. I like this one a lot because it does its job very well. I keep 4 of my other fillet knives and 2 boning knives in the case. As an avid angler, after more than 1000 trips in a year, I clean "LOTSβ of fish between 100 and 150+. So it's very important that I keep my fillet. The knives are nice and sharp. After 3-4 fish I clean the blade and turn the steel a couple of times to get it sharp again. A sharp fillet knife will cut your time in half.
