Description of Sharpening stone Hatamoto HT0960, green

The Hatamoto Japan water whetstone will perfectly sharpen your kitchen knives for comfortable and fast work. There are two surfaces on the stone for different degrees of sharpening: #1000 (medium grit) and #3000 (fine grit). You can sharpen a knife in two stages, that is, first sharpen, then polish for even greater sharpness of the blade. Before sharpening the knife, the stone must be soaked in water for three to five minutes. During operation, abrasive dust mixes with water, forming a special paste necessary for soft sharpening, since knives, especially those made of hard steel, can be damaged. The sharpening process must be carried out smoothly, covering as much of the stone as possible.

I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

In shortcomings, of course, it was possible to write the price, but the Japanese quality. These analogues of Japanese brands are much more expensive in other stores.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging of goods, it’s nice to give and suitable for storage, than to put grinding stones in a pile, or to sharpen knives every day. The sharpening is quite sharp, not the ultimate razor. The stone is perfectly cleaned, compared to various Chinese stones ordered by Ali. The price is at an acceptable level, for such a large stone, it should last a very long time. Sharpens any steel, even Soviet, even VG-10.
Cons
  • No.

Do not hesitate to buy, the quality is amazing for the price.

For home and family the most it. Enough for a long time. Remember to soak in water for 10-15 minutes before use. Watch videos on the Internet. Good luck to all!

Pros
  • I liked that the stone is water. It has two types of grit. Can sharpen all types of knives. Production Japan. Anti-slip rubber stand included. Instructions on the carton.
Cons
  • Fast delivery. The quality is excellent. I recommend to buy. Bought as a gift for 2840. Expensive, but there were no other options.

Perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

I note that if you are waiting for you to acquire this stone and sharpen your knife in a couple of minutes, you will have to upset you - this is not so. You will have to sweat, learn how to sharpen correctly, keep the angle perfectly and make an effort, but it's worth it, besides, the process itself is very pleasant and interesting.

Pros
  • Great stone for everyday needs. Yes, ideally, of course, I would like to have more stones with different grains, but this stone was enough for me to correct the clogged edge of my home knives and bring them to excellent condition. Any products are now cut like clockwork.
Cons
  • There was a small chip on the stone. But these are trifles and most likely the corner was damaged during delivery.

Perfect product for any user!

I don’t understand sharpening at all, I watched a video for 4 hours only on YouTube. Knives are sharp. I also bought a finer gradation of graininess and, in general, a class

Do not hesitate to buy, the quality is amazing for the price.

I bought it as a gift and did not expect at all that the grindstone would be in a beautiful box made of thick cardboard - in the photo in the description everywhere there is only the stone itself in the film.

Pros
  • Unexpectedly beautiful packaging - do not be ashamed to give!
Cons
  • You can add a photo of the package to the description

The quality is at the highest level, be sure to try it.

There is not much to do on self-isolation, it was decided to master the skill of turning knives on a stone. The stone is quite interesting, especially its preparation for work bubbles is not the right word))) The stone was good, it was tested on 5 knives, I could not kill or damage the stone, the result, although not immediately achieved, was not perfect, but the point here is not the stone, but the lack of skill. In general, a good thing is not easy to learn, but as the classic used to say, I…

Pros
  • Packaging, stone quality, price
Cons
  • Haven't found yet

It was packed very well. The corners are not damaged. In general, a very good option from inexpensive stones. Made in China (although the brand is Japanese), there are 2022-language inscriptions on the packaging. The width of the stone is enough for me, but if you have powder steel with high hardness on your knife (conditionally, 62 and higher - for example, M390 or S390), it will be longer and more difficult to sharpen.

Pros
  • Good quality in its price category, does not crumble, the stone is dense, sharpens knives.
Cons
  • Not found yet. Not suitable for high hardness steels. The stand could be made a little more comfortable, sometimes slips, but not critical.

I’ll be honest - as soon as I bought it I tried it, but something, as they say, went wrong, I started to look at what I was doing wrong - it turned out that before use it had to be moistened and not just moistened, but immersed in water for 5 minutes. it turned out that he formed a kind of paste that sharpens the knife. a little longer than I thought - but the result is excellent.

Cons
  • now there is no

Great quality, did not expect at all for the price.

The effect is awesome! I would never have thought that a water stone could replace my sharpeners. My husband bought it, at first I was skeptical, then I tried it when my husband was on a business trip, you can say the first pancake was lumpy, but then I got used to it, now without it I don’t even understand a good sharpening. I always spend along the entire length of the blade, I learned not to fill up the edge, all knives remain sharp for a long time!

Cons
  • The only inconvenience for me is that you have to pre-soak

This is my first whetstone. Feeling great. I have never sharpened knives myself before, so I additionally purchased a tilt angle holder. In order to properly sharpen the knife, it takes me 10 minutes + the time to soak the stone. It is very convenient that there is an anti-slip stand. Yes, and the price is quite affordable, when compared with the same "Samura", although the functionality and properties are still the same.

Pros
  • Comfortable, does the job
Cons
  • No

The product is no good, I won't buy it again.

1. Honestly, I'm sorry for the 2840 spent plus time and effort in 1 day for something that brought zero results. 2. Previously, another person mentioned the instructions on the Hatamoto HT0960 packaging, in the cat. it is written to sharpen at an angle of 60 °. In my case, there is also such a recommendation in 2 languages, and in my opinion this is nonsense! Japanese knives usually have a sharpening angle of 15°, European 20° 3. After it was done, the water stone was placed on a shelf to dry…

Pros
  • Not found after purchase.
Cons
  • Earlier about 8 years ago there was a water stone 1000/4000 Samura, cat. fully coped with his tasks in maintaining 2 Japanese knives (Chief and Santoku). But when he moved, he got lost and had to look for a replacement. Having purchased a Hatamoto HT0960 and the next morning soaking it for an hour in water (air bubbles did not come out of the stone from the very beginning, which is strange, because they should appear within 5 ~ 20 minutes.) We tried to sharpen the only remaining Japanese knife . After spending a whole day, from morning to sunset, nothing came of it! Considering that there is already experience with the same Japanese knife for sharpening on a previously former stone, which means there is something to compare with. Hatamoto HT0960 neither grinds nor polishes. And yet the difference between #1000 and #3000 in terms of efficiency is not noticeable at all, and perhaps even slightly opposite to the marking on the stone. Disappointed later, they bought the same Japanese knife that was for 1708 , given the price of the Hatamoto HT0960 water stone at 2840 , buying a new knife came out cheaper than a water stone for sharpening it.

This is my first water stone and therefore, when I first used it, I did not understand why everyone praised it so much. And the reason is that before using it, it must be soaked in water for half an hour. After that, the blade of the knife walks very easily on the stone and sharpens perfectly. You also need to adapt to set the desired sharpening angle, but for this you can additionally order a special device for fixing the knife at the desired angle. In general, I am very pleased with the…

Pros
  • Perfectly sharpens knives, 2 stones in one, convenient to use (size), there is a non-slip stand included. Made in Japan
Cons
  • Price if taken for home infrequent use

Just super, it's beautifully made, I'm very happy with it.

They brought the grindstone today, immediately soaked it in water for 30 minutes. By the way, I did not see bubbles either immediately after the stone was immersed in water, or after half an hour. After that, he took a dull cheap chef's knife, additionally wetting the surface of the stone along the way, and began to sharpen "for grain." I must say right away that I sharpened a knife for the first time, before that I looked at videos on YouTube. First sharpened at #1000 grit, then a little at…

Practical product, nothing to complain about.

With its pros: The quality of sharpening, easy to clean, comfortable stand that does not slip on a wet surface. Some cons: Almost immediately, small spots appeared, as if glue had been dropped on the stone, I think when the stone is leveled, everything will disappear.

The product is the most common, it could be worse.

I decided to take a sample stone to sharpen 2 knives. According to the instructions, I put it in water, then, also according to the instructions, I set the knife at 60 degrees and began to sharpen. Once each side, moving away from you towards the blade. First at #1000, then at #3000. The result is a knife that cuts exactly the same as to the point. I tried at an angle of 25 degrees, another knife. 10 minutes points led to the same result. The knife remained unchanged. I wouldn't say I'm a…
