Too big and chafing and my feet are sweaty/wet

I purchased these shoes last week (first week of March) for a trip to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. The weather should have gotten much colder. I bought these wool socks to keep my feet warm and because they are wool to wick sweat away from my feet. Between my hiking boots and these socks my feet were sweaty in 50* and sunny temperatures. Even when the temperature dropped at night, my feet were still sweaty. I usually have very cold feet. Not sure if it was socks, boots, Tempos or a combination of the three but my feet were too hot. However, since my feet were hot, they were sweating like crazy. I took off my boots and left wet footprints on the tiled floor in our hotel room. Then I took off my socks and left tracks of wet feet on the tiles. The toes were great too. I wear 7-1/2 women's shoes. I have a slightly narrow foot but these were too long and too wide. The part that should have been under my heel was on the back of my heel. I ended up getting blisters from the sock slipping down my foot and into my boot. I've used the Foot Glide but because my feet were so sweaty in oversized socks I was doomed. So I'm not sure if they're warm, but they don't absorb moisture. It's a thick sock - too thick for my sneakers - I tried to put them on because my feet were so hot. I ended up buying a pair of socks at the gift shop. I wear them when shoveling snow or when I'm outside in cold weather for a long time. I'm deleting them right now, hoping they shrink, shrink.
