I bought these for an upcoming ski trip to Colorado in February, so I can't rate the effectiveness of the insulation. My fingers get numb even at 40 degrees so hopefully they work! But I can say that my hand measurements were above by the small and below by the medium, so I ordered the medium and they are perfectly correct. So if you're not sure, order a size up (I think the Chinese have smaller hands?). They appear to be very well made. It is very difficult to pull the cord to tighten the glove; I'm afraid of breaking it by forced adjustment. Maybe it will get better with use. Update: I wore them on a ski trip to Vail and Breckenridge, Colorado in February when temperatures on the slopes were hovering in the 15s. I was glad they held my hands very comfortably, except on one occasion my hands were cold before putting them in a glove. I then had to clench my fist inside the glove to keep it warm, which you can't do with a glove. Lack of dexterity wasn't a problem as all I had to do was hold ski poles. The tip still doesn't help, but it wasn't needed. Overall I am very happy with these gloves.
