Looks good on a 2006 Ford F-150 but requires special equipment

The original connector on my 2006 Ford F-150 was cracked and the bracket was rusted. I could replace the fork myself with a Dorman fork that looks OEM (and I actually believe Dorman was OEM), but I couldn't find a new shackle anywhere. It appears that the bracket was originally welded to the rebar in the rear bumper, so maybe no one is selling it as a separate piece. Anyway, I found this Hopkins and decided to get it working. I'm happy to report that I've been able to and it's looking good. However, I had to buy special hardware to install it. If I screwed the included bracket directly to the bumper (I mean the steel part in the chrome bumper as I have anyway) the plug would somehow sit in the chrome bumper and you wouldn't be able to open the small doors on German I really didn't want to get in drilling my hitch or chrome bumper so instead I went to a hardware store and bought some bolts, washers, nuts and two spacers about 1.5" if I remember. Steel bumper with spacers between the bar and the bracket. Now it sits just below the edge of the chrome bumper and looks like a native. One caveat is that there was only one hole in the steel bar, and I don't want to figure out how to drill another one (and I also tend not to change things permanently if I can help for some reason), so I did actually just screwed one side to the bar and on the other side i turned the screw upside down so i had the flat surface on top and i just used the tension on the first screw to tighten the second screw tight against the bottom of the Hold the rod down. It won't move unless you really try to push it. Just plugging and unplugging the cables doesn't move it, so it's almost perfect. g itself is of high quality and even comes with dielectric grease already on the contacts. It's a very different style than the one on my truck, but it looks great and is better anyway. Both the 4-pin connector and the 7-pin connector are disconnected from the bullet connector on the wiring harness. On my truck this means the original 4 pin connector is still plugged in but I zipped it up so it doesn't get in the way. In any case, the pins on it are rusted.
