So I decided against the manufacturer's recommendations and I'm glad I did! Of course, this case isn't meant to be disassembled, but I really need something 100% waterproof (which I've already tested with a glass of water). I bought two of these covers (one for the couch, one for the chaise longue) and while they may not fit perfectly and have stitching where they shouldn't, along with being a little baggy in places, it's still a lot better than the alternative (wrap entire sofa in plastic and cover with blankets). One of our cats had a history of stress-related accidents, so for years we lived with crumpled, uncomfortable plastic that makes you sweat no matter the season. So far it feels breathable and the fabric is really dense and soft. Definitely recommend and if they ever make it specifically for cuts I'll be the first to buy!
