My gray parrot loves this toy; When she found out how it works, she was right in the middle. It's now the only way to get seeds, and she's reduced the amount she can eat in a given period (leaving more room for healthy eating). who keeps her busy and entertained all the time. She's still a bit new to foraging and I think the clear plastic is useful for birds like her who need a visual stimulus to discover new toys. If she doesn't see what's inside, she often loses interest fairly quickly. That being said, her food was clearly right under her beak, and when I showed her there was a way to get there, she didn't stop until she got it working herself. I'm afraid the concept of spinning a toy with a handle is a bit confusing to her, but she moves the holes easily by holding on and pulling on them. Also, unlike larger parrots, it doesn't seem strong enough to take apart or damage in any way. She hardly notices any holes, but it seems to me her eyesight isn't the best. In any case, this complicates the task. I've seen reviews that said their bird wasn't interested in the toy and I can think of a possible reason why that might be the case. I used to think her curiosity would get the better of most toys, but I found out that she was just being paranoid and new things were scary. That's why today I always give her time to get used to new objects and put them in front of her for a few days before introducing them to her. This and attracting treats has a huge impact on how she feels about new toys. I find when I reward her in close proximity, she sees them in a new light pretty quickly. She usually doesn't mind if she touches them soon after, especially if I give them treats. I understand why unscrewing the toy to fill it can be a nuisance for some, but since I'm only adding seed mix I don't have to worry about that. This is the only negative I can think of; it's a valid criticism but it doesn't really bother me as I just dip it into the seed mix a few times and shake off whatever has collected on top. Filling this toy with small pieces of kibble should be enough to "dunk" it into a large container and save you the hassle of unscrewing it. Lately I've been filling the chambers with some food and adding crumpled pieces of cardboard to make things a little more difficult. (This also reduces food falling out of the toy.) I'm considering adding small wooden beads to the mix as well, just to keep them interested. If you're looking for a time-wasting food-collecting toy, then this is for you (especially if you're also going to fill it with cardboard or other material). Obstacles"). It can withstand my parrot's incessant tugs and bites and seems durable enough (at least for an Gray Parrot). I bought it used for about $11, so if you think a new one is too expensive , well used, this could also be an option for you.
