Review on πŸ”˜ Dritz 9 No-Sew Dungaree Buttons: Copper, 5/8-Inch 4-Count – Easy DIY Solution for Versatile Clothing Attachments by Amy Mcleod

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looks good and easy to install, but unreliable.

Easy to sew on --- well at least 3 times out of 4. I was amazed at how easy it was to just stick the metal pin through the fabric of the back pockets of the pants and fasten the metal button. A hammer was not required, and the button connected to the thumbtack with a thumb press. It has worked well 3 times out of 4 (pack of 4 buttons). However, the fourth button refused to stay on the thumbtacks. That's quality control for you. Finally I resorted to hitting the button with a small hammer, the action of which pierced the tip of the button through the metal plate on the button. At this point the button appeared to be securely fastened, but the short, sharp point of the button stuck through. I hit the face of the button several times with a hammer. This smoothed out the button tip on the outside of the button and ensured it stays on the pants forever. I don't know how long the other three buttons stay on, but for now they seem safe. The buttons are nice, the right size and serve my purpose. Since I'll be doing pretty much anything to avoid sewing (needles, thread and I don't really fit) I've ordered another pack of buttons for future use. Maybe next time I won't have to use a hammer to fasten the buttons. UPDATE: Well the button I hammered in place broke after a few days of wearing. I ordered another set of 4 buttons. This time the button I had to replace fitted without a problem. Unfortunately, after 10 days, it fell out of the back pocket of my cargo pants and a sharp needle stuck out. So far 2 of the 8 buttons I have purchased have either not fastened properly or have fallen off after a few days of normal wear. This makes the buttons look nice and comfortable, but they don't last long. Too bad. The idea is great, but the execution is lame.

Pros
  • No-sew jumpsuit buttons that easily sew onto your clothes
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
