I purchased an Alienware 15R3 laptop in November 2017. This particular Alienware model is notorious for its notoriously poor thermal performance. I first reglued it with Kryonaut from Thermal Grizzly in the summer of 2019. This slightly improved the thermal efficiency. Since autumn 2020, however, the GPU temperature has gone through the roof. When I run the Kombuster stress test, it can go from 43°C idle to 90°C in a maximum of 50 seconds. It's time for a line-up change again and this time I decided to go with liquid metal and bought a Conductonaut. The application is almost the same as the Kryonaut, except that other parts near the GPU and CPU dies need to be covered with good quality electrical tape. (I used 3M Super 33+). It took me far longer to remove a stripped screw from a radiator than it took to attach the Condcutonaut. Result? During the 3D OCCT test, the CPU temperature dropped by 7 degrees. GPU temperature? 30°C fallen! The maximum temperature reached 93°C in front of the Conductonaut, after that only 64°C! Both tests were run for 2 minutes with the same fan settings using HWinfo. Now I can increase the graphics settings of my games since the GPU used to freeze due to overheating issues. You will love the results!
