They survived the first brew I carbonated in them with no problems. I really like being able to check and close them if needed. Figuring out how the lid was supposed to work was a little annoying, but once I figured it out, it's been really easy ever since. My only advice to the user (for those who are fizzing drinks) is that when opening, apply a little pressure to the cap and don't just pop the cork without control. Cleaning up ceiling cracks after an explosive decompression incident will teach you this fairly quickly. :-)
