The OEM version of this Dyson roller costs almost $30 and the brushes don't really sweep or hit the carpet despite the powerful suction of Dyson vacuums. This brush was way better for the price and I was like what the heck why not? The reality is that it doesn't even come close to the same quality or performance in use. Yes, brush assemblies are tricky to install because you have to deal with a rubber drive belt that connects to the motor. It fits as expected but as soon as I turned on the Dyson it made an absolutely horrible noise. Extremely loud and annoying. I turned the Dyson over and inspected the roller, it was installed correctly and nothing seemed to work, but when I turned it on I immediately saw a manufacturing defect. The roller brush is slightly deformed, but at the speeds the Dyson makes it was enough to constantly bang on the guard and create a horrid rumble. And loud is putting it mildly. They may have sent me a defective unit or it may be a manufacturing defect, but this is a replacement part that I do not recommend at all. Unfortunately I had to order a $30 Dyson replacement part. But I know it will work as expected.
