I've been driving with the check engine light on for a few months now. Because I had to pass an emissions test, I finally decided to read my codes in the Autozone. They said they needed a new oil valve. It sounded scary and expensive. Did a quick YouTube search which showed me the replacement process. This is a plug and screw. I think I can handle it! So I disconnected the battery (recommended to reset the check engine light), disconnected the power from the OCV and pulled the screw out. In the video they just pulled the old one out and put the new one in, but mine was kind of stuck so I took a screwdriver and gave it a little nudge. I was scared at first as the old OCV was actually broken, but I just grabbed a pair of pliers and pulled out the rest. super easy! Then I installed a new one and reconnected the battery. The check engine light didn't come on for a week before I passed the emissions test and passed it with flying colors. This job cost about $300 online, but by buying the part and installing it myself I saved about $265. I LOVE SAVING!
