Review on ๐ŸŽถ OM 30 Replacement Stylus by Ortofon by Travis Caminiti

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It is very flexible

I got the Ortofon OM30 as an upgrade from an entry-level OM5 (possibly in silence ). The improvement was evident when I played a song (Sad Night Dynamite) where the bass, which had been a constant rumble on the OM5, sounded musical and exciting. The OM30 pulled the bass out of the dirt and gave it the clarity I was hoping for. In addition, there were layers of sound that were either too thin to be heard when played back on the OM5, or simply didn't exist at all. The OM30 update brought these sounds from vinyl to the music they belong to. However, I would like to add that on some dance tracks that use a lot of cymbals/hi-hats, the highs can be a little tiring. While some listeners will enjoy these articulate highs, I had to give them a break. Although I don't usually change it, in this case the treble slider brings the magic back.

Pros
  • Fits the following Ortofon cartridges: all Super OM, OM, OMB, OMP, TM, Concorde STD
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other cartridges
