Attach it to the base plate and watch your problems with the sound of a spinning disc go away. I blew up a high-traffic area near the back door with this villain, and I'm sorry I wasted my money on a homeowner's fancy carpet brush. I was able to spray carpet soap on the carpet and shake it out with this brush and my rotor left the carpet clean and not wet so drying time was reduced. Excellent brush. Maybe a little big for small car applications, but for home it's a big help.
