I was looking for fully detachable scissors (so germs can't hide and the crossguard doesn't rust) that are safe to eat and not the typical oversized scissors. I was also looking for a less pointed and sharp tip that would easily pierce aluminum pans or scratch china plates. They met all of these criteria. The stainless steel also seems to be of good quality. While I appreciate the smaller handles (because my small hands can't get a good grip on the oversized handles of typical kitchen shears) on these shears, as other reviewers have pointed out, the comfort isn't great. But it's not just the material. Ideally you might want to make a small round grip for the thumb and a larger and more oval grip for the remaining fingers.
