This monitor is a real beast, but it's not without its flaws. I have delayed purchasing this unit due to noted manufacturing defects and the general teething problems this monitor has been reported to have. I got my hands on one of the later devices and at first glance this monitor is great. The screen is definitely geared towards gaming, and the extra real estate is a performance bonus (not a 'need'). A large display is very refreshing compared to the triple screen I had before. The brightness is very strong for me, so there are no complaints. The picture isn't the darkest of blacks, but I don't notice that when I'm gaming or working. The refresh rate is great! Coming from a 144Hz display, this is where the difference is noticeable. However, the monitor is not perfect. I've found that some modes have issues and some games and programs require a lot of setting changes to display correctly. This is expected from a product like this, but each header requires more than just customization. To confirm, I made sure the firmware is the latest from Samsung. Sometimes the monitor doesn't go to sleep properly, it just sits on my desk and "grinds" the Windows lock screen every 10 seconds. (Black screen, then lock screen, then black screen. Repeat this endlessly.) On rare occasions, the monitor doesn't detect the signal from my main desktop PC and shows a black screen when booting up. When I encounter this, I have to use the secondary display (Asus brand) to shut down or restart Windows. So far, restarting solves this problem every time. Rarely does the screen go black during a game session (Sea of Thieves). This happens less than once every two weeks. The problem seems to be resolved in about 20 seconds. I suspect there is a setting in the Nvidia control panel that can fix this issue, e.g. B. dynamic V-Sync or similar. Not enough has happened to investigate. The monitor once got stuck in a power loop when my work laptop had to shut down unexpectedly. I had to unplug the monitor to fix this problem. I don't know why the display behaved this way when the HDMI signal dropped unexpectedly, but it's worth mentioning here. As I mentioned earlier, the screen isn't really designed for photo editing. The picture is great for gaming settings and sufficient for watching videos and normal use cases. There are certainly better image quality solutions on the market. While none of these issues are product defects, they are definitely annoying and disappointing for a product at this price point. Just be aware that when you buy a new product and a first of its kind from a manufacturer, there will be growth issues. All in all I don't regret the purchase. If you don't mind tweaking or tweaking the settings from time to time to keep your computer running smoothly, this monitor is probably the one for you. If you need a "set it and forget it" monitor, there are better (and cheaper) options on the market. I gave 3 stars but would have considered my 3.5 star rating. If the identified issues were resolved, I would be closer to a 4.5 in my rating. Edited 08/01/2021: Corrected spelling mistakes. Edit #2: 12/6/2021: So this monitor had a flickering issue that turned out to be a known issue. The problem occurs when HDR is enabled as well as when some muted colors are displayed. The monitor showed horizontal lines on the screen, as if a tiny pixel grid had failed. It's very unfortunate. I contacted Samsung directly about this for options. Bad: Samsung solved my problem but the whole process took 7 weeks. I had to call Samsung 4 times and provide my case number for them to proceed with each p replacement step.
