Review on πŸ’Ύ Inateck FE2005: USB 3.0 Hard Drive Enclosure - Tool-Free SSD Case with UASP Support by Joseph Elvis

Good unit, just a small (potential) problem

I really like this case. I replaced the spinning hard drive in my iMac with an SSD and wanted to use the old spinning hard drive as an external backup. This position met all the requirements. It looks nice with the black aluminum cover and works well, but I ended up having an issue that took me some time to diagnose. I have a Logitech solar wireless keyboard that uses a USB port to communicate between the computer and the keyboard. After running the cable from the iMac to the drive case, I started having problems with the keyboard - delayed and ignored keystrokes. The cable that comes with the case is sensitive to electromagnetic interference, which has affected the keyboard's wireless USB port. Remove the hard drive, the problem will go away. I ended up installing two EMI clip shields on the chassis cable (one on each end). I also relocated the USB connector and case cable as close as possible to the iMac's two USB ports (only about an inch, but they were originally side by side). This fixed the keyboard issue. Keep this in mind if you have wireless USB devices.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Some small things
