Material is SUPER soft. I find the size a bit small. I bought 2t although my daughter is still wearing a lot of 18 month old clothes and she fits now but I don't think it will last all summer. Remember that there are no zippers in the crotch. So if your baby is still in diapers, changing them can be difficult. I found the legs stretchy enough that I was able to pull both legs out of the same leg opening to change a diaper instead of having to remove the whole jumpsuit.
