I don't understand how to use the Berkey without a sight glass. This happened a few days after Berka was founded. I read several reviews about the installation and many used the original washers instead of the ones that came with it. Tried to use from a delivery set - merged. Tried to tighten - drip. The third attempt was to start over and swap out the thin inside, thick outside shims and offset valve after finger tightening the inner nut. Instead of 1/4 turn I went about 1/2 turn to straighten it with the body. TA Dah. Works like a champ. It's still possible for the upper chamber to overflow, but less likely. This was all set up and tested a few days before Christmas and I've been using it for several days with no problems. Then a rehearsal. My son and two grandchildren are here and have been using it for a few days. The test is inserted. Maybe a bit pricey but worth it. Recommend!
