Review on Plustek OpticFilm 8100-35mm Negative Film/Slide Scanner with 7200 DPI and 48-bit Output: Bundle Silverfast SE Plus 8.8, Supports Mac and Windows by Robert Yates

This is very disappointing. I found great reviews on this scanner, I think it's great - if you can make it work! Tried to install drivers from DVD, laptop freezes. I tried to download the driver from the site, started the installation, the laptop crashed again, after two more attempts it installed, but the scan didn't work. Moved to desktop PC. I reinstalled the driver, again from the internet, after two attempts. Thought he might need some photo editing software. Installed from DVD. nope Nothing works. Tried everything on my son's laptop. nope Let's go back to my laptop. I tried installing the photo editing software that came with it - no, it can't read DVDs! It reads every other DVD but not this one. Another hour reboot, uninstall, install, both. nothing can make this thing scan. And what now? call support? Well I don't think so. For $350 this should work fine and not spend more of my money on some helper kid. That goes back to the seller and I just buy something else. .
