I ordered three of these lights as I needed more light in my dressing room and placed over the unwired fireplace to give it the appearance of an alcove. This light emits as much as a night light and does not illuminate the area, it is a beam of light directly from where it is installed with a very faint glow. However, I like the effect of the wireless switch. I remember reading a review from a guy that explained how to remove something at the base of a light source to make it brighter. I will try his method to see if it works. If not, I can use it as a night light in my son's room or use it as a dim light under the kitchen cabinet at night. These lanterns can actually be used anywhere night lighting is required, not to increase your electricity bill with night lights. Under the bathroom sink is another place I might consider. I got an A for effort from my husband for trying to find an easier solution than running wires. It works but not for what I bought it for.
