I have been using drugstore box dye (Revlon, Clariol) for a long time. This product hardly has any smell compared to those products. In fact, I thought " can this be working, I hardly smell anything." I used L'Oreal Oreor 20-Volume Creme Developer, 16 Ounce($8). I checked the color outcome pictures on the Zotos professional web-site (Google-"Age Beautiful, Zotos professional") click on the "remarkable shades" section. The color came out as expected. I wanted a light brown and I have medium brown hair that has been dyed with Clairol 6/116, Natural Light Neutral Brown. I touched up the roots and the color came out similar to that color. I probably will try Dark Ash Blonde next time.I like this product better because it has covered my (5 %) resistant grays. After 2 weeks all the other dyes that I have used seem to wash out (Clairol Nice n' Easy, L'Oreal Excellence, Clariol Age defy.)( Updated at bottom- performance after 2 weeks. ) Also Clairol's product leaves my hair dull, the smell is much stronger, and I think it damages my hair. This dye was very gentle and the smell washed out with one shampoo. I use Alba Botanica Plumeria Shampoo and desert Essence fragrance free conditioner and my hair is very soft and manageable. I intend to switch to this brand,but as always I like to try out new brands from time to time.Update:The grey did not show through! I only see roots. For resistant grey at my temples I left the second for 45 mins. I am so amazed that it did not fade and covered the resistant grey. I am switching to this brand.
