Good things first: The scanner is fast when it's working properly and overall it's reliable and produces decent image quality. Now for the bad and ugly: Bad: The scanner will not work properly when connected to a USB 2.0 port when a USB 3.0 port is available. The driver keeps returning a scanner busy message. Epson Support was unable to identify the problem and offer a solution. I discovered this myself and have now decided to use USB 3.0, if available. Ugly: The document feeder's scanning slot is a clear sheet of plastic that scratches badly during use. Good luck finding a replacement. The plastic sheet is attached to a removable frame that allows access for cleaning, but with frequent use of the scanner the plastic sheet will buckle a lot, affecting the quality of the scan. A field repair is possible with clear plastic sheeting and double sided tape, but I haven't tried that. Verdict: It's a serviceable scanner, but driver issues and incomplete parts support make it a best-priced product. volume used
