This is just a piece of aluminum shaped to hold the watch securely at a comfortable viewing angle. Of course you can use the included cable, but it will be short and your watch (if you're using your computer as a charging source) may get in the way. (I usually use a separate mouse). However, you can still see it and view messages, or it can be placed next to your bed. While some have complained about the location of the charging port, all you have to do to move it is press the clips on the back and slide it forward. It can be rotated in multiple directions. In general, a very useful thing for me.
