Overall great light. Read installation tips

First of all I am very satisfied with this lamp. It gets very bright -- much brighter than the two 60-watt bulbs it replaced. I put this in my basement playroom so I wanted RGB colors. Pros: 1) Very bright. Reviews saying it doesn't get bright; I can only assume they couldn't figure out the remote control, which is understandable as the instructions are in garbled English. 2) Glitter is built into the globe. I didn't know that from looking at the product photos, but the globe looks very nice. The built in sequins really add to the appeal of this light fixture. 3) Multiple color modes. I'll go into more detail on that later. 4) The colors look great. 5) Remembers the last color setting when you turn on the light. 6) The remote control comes with an installed battery and a spare battery. Uses CR2032.7) The remote control requires no setup or pairing. It just works. Cons: 1) Instructions are very limited. It is clear that English was not the native language of whoever wrote it. 2) It was difficult to figure out the installation. 3) After installation, the light will not fully adhere to the ceiling. See photos. It attaches to the washer that holds the circuit and this washer attaches to the ceiling and places the actual light fixture about 1 inch from the ceiling. Which wouldn't be a big problem if it weren't for the fact. 4) Open wiring. See photos. The light is connected to the puck by unhidden wires. And the wires that connect to the house wiring aren't fully hidden either, although I managed to hide them a bit by routing them through the mounting plate. See photo.5) Light 100% plastic. The globe is not glass. Although you can't tell for sure once it's installed. Installation Tips: 1) Disconnect the lantern from the washing machine before you start. 2) Attach the round metal mounting plate to the washer using the three short nuts and bolts provided. Make sure the grounding tabs are pointing away from the washer. 3) If you want to hide the house wiring connector wire, remove the connector from the end and feed the wires through one of the outer rings on the metal plate. 4) Once you have the plate/washer assembly ready it should easily attach to the existing junction/mounting box using the existing screws. A small piece of copper is exposed on your home's wiring. About 1/4 inch. So you will most likely have to cut them. If you want to use wire nuts, you'll need to strip the wires a little more at the washer. 6) Haven't done it yet, buy it, I'm planning to buy a "ceiling light medallion" from a local manufacturer. Store to hide exposed wires. Remote control: 1) The round pad adjusts the brightness (up/down) and color temperature from cool to warm in white light mode (left/right) 2) The button in the center of the pad restores the light to the default bright white mode. 3) There are two memory buttons at the bottom. Adjust the light to your liking and press and hold one of these buttons for three seconds and the current mode will be programmed to that button. 4) The "wifi" button is for pairing. If the remote control is not paired or you want to connect it to another light source: Press the pairing button once within three seconds of turning on the power source. If the connection is successful, the light will flash three times. 5) The snowflake/sun button (represents cold and warm color temperature) switches the light to white light mode. Color Modes and Buttons: There are two color mode buttons. One of them cycles light through a wide range of colors at a slow speed. You can leave it looping if you want, or when it reaches the color you want you can press the button again and it will stop at that color. If you want, you can program that color into the memory button. The next color mode button toggles through the following modes: Red Green Blue Pulsing red (dimming slowly, then brightening) Pulsing green Pulsing blue Random rapid color change (alternating 3 times per second), etc.) Strobe (flashing between red, green, and blue very fast) So this light had some shortcomings and installation problems, but they can all be overcome. Once installed correctly it looks great and the light output/versatility is excellent.
