Review on Kreg Tool Company KHI HINGE Concealed by Cliff Gibs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Suitable for limited project not professional quality

Update: Yesterday I used this jig again for 20 more loops. The bit seemed sharp enough that I used the same "left" clamp and Vix bits for the screw holes. I would say I got my $30. I read another review that discussed the attachment not cleaning wood chips very well. I agree that it isn't, and it's a minor issue, but overall I still think this device has worked well for my projects. Original review: I had to put hinges on 20 doors and this bracket worked fine. I was too lazy to use 2 clamps on the jig for each hole and my "left" clamp worked fine. I kept my drill attached to the jig and used a vix (self centering) bit (Bosch) to drill holes for the screws. I think I saved time by installing the hinges at the same time. I've added a photo using the Vix drill. I've had the original Kreg pocket hole gauge for 20 years and have drilled at least 5,000 holes with it and it still works like day one. I think this is the best tool I have. The idea of this device is solid, but Craig saved money and skipped this one. Plastic is not the best choice for durability, I would pay more for metal. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the bit not being sharp. I found the 35mm bit sharp enough for my poplar frames. Also read where parts melted but I didn't have this problem. A friend bought a Rockler hinge attachment for €235 and he loves it. Nothing for the weak purse! All in all it did the job, but I'm not sure how it will work next time.
