Much better than just an umbrella

I bought this softbox because my traditional umbrella reflector wasn't soft enough. Most of the reflected light hitting my subject came from a relatively small area in the center of the screen. However, this model adds a soft white diffuser to the front of the shade, attaches quickly with Velcro, and emits even, soft light across the entire width. The whole thing is still very compact when not in use and stowed in the supplied packaging. narrow pocket. To do this, you need an umbrella lamp holder with a socket and a stem that protrudes from the center of the umbrella. They are made as either lamp holders or hot shoes. I shoot videos and usually need a lot of light. So I bought a dual socket mount and used a pair of R-40 Flood 3000 Kevin bulbs pointed at the umbrella. Each cartridge has a switch that gives me two levels of lighting. The lamps end entirely inside the shade, so there is a narrow zipped opening at the bottom through which the lamp base and power cord pass.

Pros
  • COMPATIBILITY: Can be used with speedlites and some studio flashes with an umbrella hole
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
