Review on Milwaukee Electromagnetic Tape Measure 48-22-5125 by Alan Massey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect band and here's why.

I have an old Craftsman tape measure that I love. The main reason is that it stays stretched until I press release. Most other bands work the other way around and you have to click the lock to keep it open and then click the lock to close it. Well my Craftsman band is almost 30 years old and spring is showing it, also the measurements on the first 6 inches are hard to read. This Milwaukee tape is better than my Craftsman and my new Goto tape. In big stores you can get a nice wide strap with a good hook, but this one stands out: firstly, it fits my hand perfectly, and when I'm holding it, I just have to pull a little with my index finger. and the tape stays taut. I don't have to fiddle with the lock to keep it extended or closed. That alone might be its best feature, but it's not the only thing that makes it different. Second, there is a magnet at the top. Since it's not on every tape. I can stretch the tape up to the corner of some metal and the tape sticks it onto the nail and it stays put. Third, it's printed on both sides. Previously, if I had to mark the exact size, I had to wrap the tape so that the edge was on the surface while holding the case the whole time to avoid falling, twisting the tape, and losing the ability to measure. In fact, I needed three hands. This band has the hook on both sides, so I hook the band with the radius of the band facing up. Now both edges of the tape are in contact with the surface I'm marking on. I don't need three hands and accurate measurements are possible. Fourth, the surface of the tape is coated with nylon. I protect measurements and cut off glare. Finally, there are 1/4-foot-scale architectural markings on the underside of the tape. That way they are there and useful when you need them, but off the most commonly used surface of the band to make it easier to misread the measurement. Someone has to suggest something better that I can change. This is the perfect tape.
