A good stand with a minimum of compromises

So many TV stands they're practically monoliths. The stand becomes the focal point, not the TV that sits or is mounted on it. If you like minimalist design, this TV stand should suit your needs. The only option I would like visually is the presence of a white stand with a TRANSPARENT glass bottom. Not every home can or should have a black media stand. With that in mind, here are my findings. 1) Assembly. If you know how to work with a screwdriver and an Allen key, you've got what it takes to assemble this TV stand. The instructions were in correct English and clear in presentation. So I read it twice and inventoried the parts and then started collecting. It took about 30 minutes from start to finish and another 15 minutes for the final setup because I wanted to try and hide as many cables as possible. (more on that later) - 5 stars for this part. 2) Fit/Finish. Almost anything can be mechanically simple and easy to assemble, but if a product is of poor quality or poorly finished, it ruins any purchase, am I right? In this case, the packaging was thoughtful and reliable. Why mention the packaging? Well, it usually reflects how a company thinks about its products, not only in terms of production but also in terms of customer interaction. Shown from opening the box to tightening the last screw. The paint/powder coating seemed solid enough. I didn't notice any cracks or chips during assembly. Assuming that a real TV stand doesn't take a lot of direct contact abuse, I can bet it will remain great for years to come. The tempered glass base is still a design challenge, but I understand the manufacturer's reasoning. It's inexpensive and heavy, just like a TV stand should be. Just know that BLACK becomes unsightly at the slightest speck of dust. - 4 stars for this section 3) Functionality. The TV stand can swivel left/right approximately 30 degrees at a time, but does NOT offer forward tilt. Adjusting the height of TV and media shelves is NOT instantaneous. That means you have to remove either the TV or the media device before removing or detaching the shelves to adjust them. It's not really a deal breaker as it wasn't about a sit and stand table. So once you've set it up for your particular environment, why would you normally care about the height? But the real value proposition is the flexibility this stand offers depending on the size of your TV and/or media devices. Which brings me to one of my reservations about this TV stand. Many buyers will likely put a cable/satellite box on one of the shelves. That should be fine since the shelves are quite large: 10.2 inches deep and 13.8 inches wide. By now, probably just as many TV owners own a game console or two. Now, if you try to mount your original Playstation 4, one of the most popular gaming systems, which is 12 inches deep and 11 inches wide in the front, it only occupies about 80% of the platform and needs to be moved. slightly forward to make room for power and an HDMI cable at the back. Ours should sit lengthwise, which is functional but not very pleasing aesthetically. Routing the cable through the routing on the surrounding cable management system doesn't work very cleanly in this configuration. The new PS4 Slim and Pro should fit a little better. Our Nintendo Switch definitely fits. I'm considering using a split loom to wrap all the wiring, THEN running it through a cord wrap system. If the media shelves were a little bigger, I'd be a lot happier. - Here 4 stars 4) Overall. A good price for a minimalist TV stand with some customization means any spot in the room can be the best.
