Update November 28, 2020: This isn't the perfect case I was hoping for. In addition to the noise issue, which I'll address below, it has a heating issue. When multiple drives are running at the same time, they get very hot. Too high a temperature shortens the life of the discs. When I transfer a lot of data between drives, I keep the small door open. If there were other good and better cases that would protect drives from excessive heat and vibration and control fan noise, I would downgrade my rating to 3 stars. But since I haven't found anything better, 4 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: One or two reviewers commented that this case is quiet. It's probably subjective what silence means to a person. It also depends on where they place the suitcase. Many people, like me, would love to use this device next to their desk, next to their laptop or desktop computer. The two fans in this case run at full speed when the drives are running and there is no way to control the speed of these fans. I don't find them quiet at all. Sure, they're not as noisy as a lawnmower, but I've placed the case behind my desk and can still hear the fans running. I find this noise a bit annoying and I couldn't stand it any longer if I leave the case on my desk. If, like me, you plan to use this case for regular backups, this shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, the suitcase should be placed at a distance from your workplace. To give you an idea of the noise issue. My DIY PC is an NZHT H440 Razer case filled with nine fans (seven 120mm and two 140mm fans) with five 3.5" hard drives. He was always standing next to my desk 4ft from where I was sitting and I can't hear him at all. I don't play games so the fans don't run at full speed. Now that this case is further away from me than the NZXT case, I can hear the sound of two tiny fans running at full speed. Technology is so advanced these days that there are ways to make cooling cases and hard drive cases comfortable and quiet. I'm not sure why the engineers chose those two tiny air cooling fans over a larger, quieter, and possibly more efficient fan. How long do these two fans last when running at full speed? Is there a way to swap them out after they stop working? But as said, if you need a hard drive enclosure for the occasional backup or don't want to keep the enclosure on your desk, this beautiful Mobius module is for you. On the other hand. How secure is the drive bay and its locking system? As you know, hard drives should be protected from: (1) excessive heat (2) vibration (here, this would be vibration caused by the hard drives themselves). in. I wonder if that's enough. On the other hand, the fans seem to cool the case properly (and are unfortunately loud). Advertisement. 2: Does this case protect the drives sufficiently from vibration? Although on the one hand this case has enough mass to suppress excessive vibrations, on the other hand I have serious doubts about the locking system of this case: it seems to me that it does not sufficiently protect the drives from vibrations. The fact is that the panels are not rigidly fixed in the compartments. Moving a locked disc with your finger gives you an idea: the disc can easily be moved up or down a little. In other words, the system of this case does not fix the hard drives. Please note that 10TB or 12TB drives have many platters (ie fast spinning drives) inside which create vibrations. While this system offers an easy and convenient way to change discs, I'm more concerned about the reliability of this system when exposed to vibration. A single drive of my WD RED 10TB drives costs more than this entire case and I want to make sure my drives don't fail prematurely due to vibration. I contacted Oyen Digital customer service and they responded immediately. . Customer service is top notch! I was assured that the case had been checked for vibration and that my drives should be fine. Since this case seemed like the best I could get for the money (material quality and performance), I left it. CONCLUSION: While I initially had some reservations about this case, I highly recommend it because it's beautiful and probably the best you can get in this price range. Only time will tell how reliable this unit is and how it works with my rims. July 16, 2020: Have been using it for 8 months now. So far, so good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
