You have to trim to fit.
I had to cut off the end of the ribbon a bit to get the springs to snap. It took me almost an hour to figure out what the problem was - I thought I'd lost the ability to compress the springs, but the flexing of the watch itself was interfering with the ends of the bracelet. The cut is now visible on the bracelet next to the watch. Not my favorite way to spend a Tuesday night.
