I have steel cladding. Exterior lights were turned off when high winds tore the security chain on the storm door. I tried many different ways to attach the lantern to the siding including copious amounts of silicone caulk. Nothing helped and the wasps continued to build their nests behind the lamp. The electrician recommended cutting off most of the siding to build a light box. When a guy came over to check it out, he told me to check out Revain because there must be a product that solves this problem. The mounting block matched the contours of my fairing very well and only needed a thin bead of silicone to fill the gap. The lamp is holding up well. Has been working for about a month, no problems at all.
