Update: Remote camera access is 90% impossible

The setup is definitely tricky and the documentation is definitely not the best. However, I now have four of these (three direct from Lorex and one from Revane) and they work great. I recorded them to the NAS via WiFi, activated by motion detection, temperature or IR. I've had occasional crashes as discussed in other members' reviews, but I can use the L-View software on PC and Lorex Ping on iPad and Android with no issues. This is definitely not a product for those who are new to hardware like wireless routers and other networking devices. I have found that the best way to set it up is to do a basic install with the Ping app and then switch to L-View on PC/Mac. Note that the first prompt to change the password to ping changes the password used to view the video, not the admin password (that confused me when I first set up the camera). The administrator account used to configure the camera is "admin" with a blank password. You can change this once you log in to the browser-based web configuration tool. In L-View, right-click the camera ID and select "Web Setting"; User ID as password here is admin credentials. The web configuration screen allows you to configure IP, NTP, scheduling and many other useful features. The browser is much simpler than the iPad/Android apps and much more intuitive. A browser allows you to open multiple camera consoles in different windows so you can double check each camera's configuration so you have consistent alerts/recordings etc. I've used email notifications and they work great. Each email notification includes a screenshot of the camera. This can be a little annoying as I've sent hundreds of notifications at once. Just be careful and adjust the settings accordingly. The talkback really works, if a bit spirited. You need to account for network latency by giving the person time to listen and respond to you. I think this is more of a gimmick than anything, but being able to hear audio from the camera is a nice feature. To update. After using these for a while I am very disappointed. They are not available remotely most of the time. If the WiFi goes down, the cameras won't reconnect to the network and just seem to get into an endless reconnecting loop that never works. You have to manually disconnect and reconnect to find out. I will replace them as soon as possible.
