So I made three changes. I have this toothpaste, a very soft toothbrush and conditioner. I didn't brush my teeth very well and haven't been to the dentist for a teeth cleaning in over a year. When I come in, I usually have a lot of tarter. This time the hygienist said I had absolutely no tarts and was impressed by how clean they were. When I asked the dentist about activated charcoal toothpaste, he said he'd read some articles about it recently and warned that there's still a lot of research to be done to make sure it doesn't damage your tooth enamel in the long run. If, in my experience, it's abrasive enough to remove a year's worth of tartar in a week of brushing, that could be a legitimate concern. My non-professional opinion of this product is that if you are behind on brushing or buffing before bleaching, it is good to use within a week. Also, I would argue that claims of this material being a whitening product are only true to the extent that plaque/tartar removal improves the appearance of your teeth. If your enamel is stained, you need a peroxide product.
