Review on ๐Ÿชต Stanley 16 791 Sweetheart Socket Chisel: Premium Quality Chisel for Ultimate Woodworking Precision by Charles Notti

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Given the price and reputation, I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of customization required, but the end product is worth it.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with these atm chisels. First, they are not spicy. This is a minor note and I wasn't expecting much from it, but considering the price I'm still a bit disappointed. Second, my chisels weren't even remotely flat on their backs. Worst of all were the cutouts on the sides, so I spent hours leveling 6 chisels I bought. My set of cheap Harbor Freight chisels easily beats them for back flatness. In short, whoever wants to buy these chisels should definitely have the option of back leveling! That's true of any chisel set you buy, but it's especially true here. Third, the grips also require a lot of work to fit properly. However, I do not agree with the people giving these 2-3 stars. based on these factors. You have to put a lot of effort into these parts, but once you do, they're almost on par with Veritas or Lie Nelson, and at a fraction of the cost. The bottom line is that processing costs a lot of money! If you want a new chisel that comes out of the box almost perfectly smooth and razor sharp, then you're going to have to pay for it! That's why the Veritas chisel costs more than the entire 4-piece set. It's up to you to decide if a day of your time is worth the price difference or not.
