Good quality chisels

Good chisels. I started with a couple of Dollar Bros from Home Depot, which worked pretty well, but I wanted something nicer with less plastic. I really like the look of the chisels and this set fits the bill perfectly. On arrival the chisels were decently sharp and covered in some sort of clear coat to keep the steel from rusting. This was easily removed with acetone. All of the bits were flat as hell except for the 1 inch bit which had a slight concave on its belly. never mind The sockets fit

Excellent quality, good price, update

I wanted to add some quality chisels to my tool bag and decided to try Stanley chisels. A set of 4 tools costs about the same as an LN tool. The tools had to be adapted/coordinated immediately. All backs were concave and had a coarse twist on them. It took about 15 minutes for the back to be fairly flat on a wet 600 grit rock. The strip left a mirror finish. Now they cut very well. I'm about to have a project where a lot of mahogany material needs to be removed, so I'll be testing the edge…

  • There are other interesting options.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with these atm chisels. First, they are not spicy. This is a minor note and I wasn't expecting much from it, but considering the price I'm still a bit disappointed. Second, my chisels weren't even remotely flat on their backs. Worst of all were the cutouts on the sides, so I spent hours leveling 6 chisels I bought. My set of cheap Harbor Freight chisels easily beats them for back flatness. In short, whoever wants to buy these chisels should definitely have the…

Good quality chisel set

I read many reviews of chisel sets before throwing in the towel and picking up the sweetheart set. In my case, money was NOT the deciding factor. As an advanced woodworker who has never considered making dovetails with anything other than a router jig, it has become apparent that purchasing a handyman kit will include tool improvements that will not significantly affect (improve) my usual use of those tools. in business. hand tools. Yes, no one will mistake my practice and work with Rob Kosman…

  • Some difficulties

These chisels are highly valued by professionals. This is a classic chisel model, the design of which has not survived without reason. I'm just a hobby carpenter, but I choose many of my tools like I'll one day be good at them. This is an investment for the future and I intend to take good care of it so that I can pass it on to my grandchildren. This involves wrapping them in a nice leather roll and sharpening them to the best of your ability with 3 levels of Shapton whetstones (320, 1000…

Very nice set of chisels

I've lost count of how many chisels I have. Different manufacturers, different types. I didn't really need another set but I thought they looked good and I could carve a different bevel on some of my old chisels and reuse them. I didn't expect as much from this set as when I bought my LN bits. But was I surprised. I use each of these chisels to cut the ends of a pine tree out of the box. I flattened the back and ground the bevel and I found myself reaching for them with my LN chisels. The…

A lot of work to get in shape.

Setting them up was an absolute nightmare. The bit edge of almost all manufacturers has either a broken or wavy front/back. I don't like using machines when getting new bits because I like to buy mid-quality bits, also because I don't want to spend a day getting them ready for use. Yes, they are sharp when supplied, but they definitely need to be sanded and polished before any "FINE" woodworking can be done. I wish I could just sharpen them on my Shapton 16000 mesh ceramic stone and then join…

An overview for those interested in flanks and bit tapers.

I've spent a lot of time looking for a good quality set of chisels at a reasonable price, and by reasonable I mean less than $30 a chisel. I wasn't expecting to find Lie Nielsen or Veritas quality in this $73 Sweethearts set, but I expected the chisels to be as described by Stanley. Spoilers: It's not as described, at least not the set I received, so I returned it to Revain. I managed to get by with a cheap set of Buck Bros chisels for a few years, but lately I've been using them. so many that…

Great chisels at a great price

These chisels have really won me over. I have read the reviews carefully and found that the people who actually buy, own and use these bits say very positive things. At first I was torn between buying Veritas PM-V11 bits and these. When I bought these bits, the Veritas set didn't come in as many sizes as Stanley's, so I settled on these Stanley Sweet Hearts. You'll find that the Veritas kit is significantly more expensive, but price wasn't really the deciding factor. I was interested in basic…
