There are much faster and cheaper devices. I only bought this as a last resort when I was out of town and forgot my other reader at home. Not very happy with it! I use this device occasionally for SD cards, but mostly I have CF cards and use a FireWire reader for them. It gets the job done for small quick JPG transfers, but this reader is sooo slow for video files. I'm currently using it on my Linux netbook and it transfers between 3 and 5 MB/s (megabytes). Still a bit above the speed of USB 1.1, but nowhere near the USB 2.0 that this device should have. It also runs pretty slow on my Mac. This might run faster on Windows, but I don't have a Windows PC to test it.
