At first I was looking for a one piece assembly (cable and power supply connect, not the plug) but after having to tether the cable through the attic, eaves etc this worked better and made it easier to catch the line in multiple directions. If the power supply (the part that plugs into the outlet) fails, I can easily replace that component without having to unplug the cord again if they were plugged in as a unit. All of the power supplies in my layout fit into an outlet either in the attic or indoors, so I can't comment on how well they perform outdoors. Two of my four cameras are under a porch or awning so they can't see rain or snow. The other two are outdoors so we'll see. So far, so good. I also use silicone camera cases.
