I got the 1/2 inch, thickest option. I wanted cushion for my nursery under a flat cotton rug. It gives some, but less than I hoped for especially for the price, it still feels pretty hard. It does elevate the rug quite a bit and any thicker would be too much of a "step” up. It was the perfect size, didn’t need to cut it, and the "sticky” side clings well to my rug so it doesn’t shift. I have 6 by 9 on hardwood and took a chance without a Non-Slip backing with no big furniture on it except an ottoman and it doesn’t move around too much so I’m glad about that. Overall it’s better than no pad but I’m not sure it was worth the price point and still wishing it was more cushioned but I don’t think there is any other option. I like that this company is non toxic
