They are not very bright at all. These two are used under the table with the lights on in the room. They are not activated by movement, but must detect light. They kind of detect light but aren't very sensitive, so they need a lot of light to turn off and almost no light to turn on. The fact that I had to use two outlets for such a small space makes them a complete waste unless I designed them with a power-through connection. In fact, it would be easy to add a pass-through power connector to them, and they serve a good purpose. In my opinion, however, they are completely useless in this form. I had to send them back but it was holiday season and I was too busy. I missed the window so I didn't ask, but they really could be a good product if they heed my recommendation. One last thing and I'm not sure, but I think it's just the red plastic cover, not the red LED inside.
