This enclosure can support an 8TB NVME PCIe drive and delivers up to 900Mbps with a standard -USB-C connection. You cannot close the SSD aluminum. In this case, you must use an internal one with an open heatsink. It's actually much better outdoors as the aluminum case generates more heat and reduces performance, so I use it outdoors with a cool heatsink covering the SSD and helping with the temps. I've bought a few cases and this one was the best in terms of performance. Other more expensive ones were very dim or didn't work at all.
