I bought this to replace the one I installed when I was remodeling the cooling system on our BMW Convertible. I found that the one I installed to restore was broken. It worked exactly the opposite of how it was supposed to work. It stayed on when the engine was cold and sounded like a turbocharged engine on steroids. It then turns off when the engine is under load and above normal operating temperature. They are designed to remain deactivated until the engine is above normal operating temperature. At this point, the fan should turn on to create more airflow over the radiator, which will draw heat away from the coolant and lower the temperature. engine normal again. This product is an OEM product and right out of the box my engine sounds and runs like it should. I've never had to install anything other than OEM. After all, it was installed by BMW when it was built. I am very happy and satisfied with this fan clutch and the seller. It arrived in 2 days in perfect condition and I installed it in half an hour.
