I bought these to try and teach my two dogs not to bark as much and to follow commands. I like that they are rechargeable so I don't have to constantly buy batteries. The first few times I used it on my 12 lb Cairn Terrier I was in for a big shock. Now that she knows what it is, a vibration or a gentle shock usually helps. My 8 lb Toy Poodle only needed a light kick a few times, vibration is usually enough for him. The only issue I have is that either the range is poor or they don't always communicate with the remote because sometimes I push the button when the dogs are only 10-20 feet away and it doesn't work. I know they turn off automatically when not moved to save battery life, but in those cases my dogs moved - they barked or ran. There is a light on the collar that lights up when switched on, but can be difficult to see depending on the direction your dog is facing. But for the price it's fair. It helped train my dogs and I didn't want to spend hundreds like other brands I've seen. Just don't rely on them to work in life and death situations. Luckily it didn't work when they were trying to chase a car or anything serious. UPDATE: Now when we press the buttons for dog 1, dog collar 2 will fire at the same time. Not good for dog training unless they misbehave! We were using them for about 6-8 months when this happened. Change from 3 stars to 1!
