The mat itself glides on tiles. The floor doesn't stick at all, it's smooth and moves every time my cats step on it. I recommend buying a rug grab (eg: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MEZ7M14/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_O4l3BbABY70D3) or placing a bathmat underneath like I did. Otherwise, it will not catch dirt at all, as it will be scattered around the room. I tried a towel but it didn't help. He's standing on the carpet. As for the carpet itself, I like the material. It's like a sponge, so it won't hurt cat's paws. It's really easy and simple to clean, all you have to do is open it up and empty it into the bin. You can wash it off if you wish, but it is not necessary. The size is great and it catches ALL the debris (when attached). My cats are particularly picky about everything, but after a few breaths they didn't mind the mat at all. Kitty litter in a tile or cement room (who wants a crispy toilet rug?). I was surprised at how easily this mat glides. It won't take long to fix with a DIY solution but for the amount I paid for this rug I expected it to stay in place.
