I bought 2 of these because I have 2 cameras. The first one I tried to put together didn't fit in the slots. I tried the second one and it clamped with no problems. Then I compared them and found that the stand part was too thick on the first one. I decided to sand down the protrusions with fine sandpaper. That's when I noticed the protective film. There are no instructions in the packaging. I finally got them both working and they seem pretty solid. A piece of double sided tape would be your best bet. On the other hand, there were extra nuts and bolts, which is good if you need them.
