Third, if you detect a high voltage leak, the scope will be thrown out, and since there is no ground wire, the shielding will be damaged. The simple fix is to just cycle the scope on and off and test it somewhere else on the wire or coil. Most leaks occur either closer to the cap or plug, or to the coil and boot, so stay centered on the spark plug leads and the center top of the coil.
